The blog this year will focus on Women+Business+Style, and January’s posts center on some fabulous resources for San Diego businesses, particularly on women-owned businesses. First was Social Studio Shop, Collaborative Thread, and the Get It Done Gals.
Now here’s a little about one of my favorite San Diego female entrepreneur spaces for working, meetings, workshops, and events: Hera Hub.
What is Hera Hub?
Hera Hub’s website describes themselves very well: “Hera Hub is the first international female-focused coworking space – a shared, flexible work and meeting space where entrepreneurial women can create and collaborate in a professional, productive, spa-like environment. The platform provides our members with connections to other business experts, access to educational workshops, and visibility within the community… thus giving them the support they need to be prosperous.”
Hera Hub has locations in Sorrento Valley, Mission Valley, Carlsbad, Washington D.C., Phoenix, and Sweden (!!!), with a licensing program available if you’d like to open a Hera Hub in your city.
Who started Hera Hub?
Felena Hanson founded Hera Hub after starting many businesses and working in marketing for 20 years. She was involved in Ladies who Launch and Women’s Global Network and saw the need for a new kind of workspace, just for women entrepreneurs. She continues to provide support and advice for Hera Hub members, and recently published a book titled, “Flight Club: Rebel, Reinvent & Thrive – How to Launch your Dream Business,” which I have read and recommend. See my book review here.
One of her goals listed on the website is to “support over 20,000 women in the launch and growth of their business by 2020,” which is a goal I can stand behind!
Events
Hera Hub also hosts many useful events for member and non-members alike. I have attended several events at several Hera Hub locations including a legal needs for small businesses seminar where I met an Intellectual Property lawyer who took care of my Fetchlight trademark (shoutout to Polly Gautsch at G+A Legal). Thanks, Hera Hub and Felena, for this connection in particular and for all your support for women entrepreneurs and girl bosses in San Diego and beyond!
